The Magical Delights of Stevie Nicks
This episode was certainly worth the wait as the fight for the Supremacy heats up like never before and Fiona going to any lengths to become immortal. Hank is now out of the picture after going to Marie's salon and gunning down almost everyone in the place but was finally stopped by Queenie, who is now also dead. There was a funeral scene that had Misty and Madison following along but we weren't told whose it was. I'm assuming it was Queenie's but if so, where were the other witches who should have been in attendance?
White witch Steve Nicks, Misty Day's heroine, graced the coven with her presence at the request of Fiona but it's clear this was Fiona's way of keeping Misty sweet. Fiona believes, as do most of the witches, Misty is the next supreme but in this episode of American Horror Story we're finally getting to see the young witches show some real power. Nan can now control peoples minds as well as read their thoughts, and she can also throw people around, as witnessed during a scene with Luke's mother, where she mentally shoves Zoe from one end of the room to the other.
Zoe hasn't shown any more power and Kyle was missing from this episode but Madison is also showing more power. It was thought she couldn't be the Supreme because of her heart-murmur but this appears to have vanished since she was brought back to life by Misty. Madison is now convinced she should be the next Supreme and is obviously jealous of Misty. They both arrive at the graveyard where Madison displays the power of resurgence by bringing a man back to life who was about to be entombed. After failing to mess with Misty's head by telling her she's only being used by Stevie Nicks and Fiona, she knocks Misty out, who falls into the coffin and is then entombed in place of the revived man. Was the man really dead and the whole thing a ruse, or can Madison indeed raise the dead?
We saw at the end of the last episode, Marie turn up at the coven doorstep, now that all her people have been wiped out thanks to Hank, and in this episode, while Marie, Cordelia and Fiona are talking, Marie confesses it was she who was using Hank to get to the witches, but instead of being angry at Marie, Fiona slaps Cordelia and tells her she's useless and knowingly blind for marrying Hank and inviting the enemy into their coven. Fiona devises a plan to get at Hank's father, the head of the witch hunters, through his large, multi-billion dollar corporation Adelphi, by hurting them financially.
We finally find out how Marie has become immortal and the high price she has to pay Papa Legba, a voodoo soul-reaper, who visits Marie at the coven. She must give him the soul of an innocent each and every year, so Marie goes into a hospital and snatches a baby to pay Papa Legba. Fiona eventually asks Marie how she became immortal and Marie tells her but advises her against it as she must sell her soul to Papa Legba, but unperturbed, Fiona calls on Papa who does indeed come but things don't go as planned for the Supreme. Fiona even tells Papa she would offer Cordelia's soul to him.
Delphi is now facing serious financial trouble as their stocks plummet and no one will answer their phone calls to help the witch hunters. Hank's father suspects it's the witches and is now ready to take the fight to them. Fiona is now very desperate and she and Marie do something to one of the witches which may have some sort of comeback, but only time will tell. At the close of the episode, Fiona tells the Axeman that as she doesn't know which of the girls is the new supreme, and intends to kill them all.
