A scary movie from Academy Award winner Guillermo del Toro? Yes, it's happening and it looks like it's going to be a scary one this summer. The first Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark trailer has been released and these spooky short stories are going to have you not wanting to leave the movie theater!
This new movie is based on the series of short stories by Alvin Schwartz. The movie takes place in 1968 and it revolves around a young girl who has some horrible secrets. She lives in a mansion on the edge of town and it just so happens that a group of teenagers stumble upon the mansion. This is when the craziness starts!
The screenplay comes from Dan Hageman & Kevin Hageman (Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu) and it directed by André Øvredal (Trollhunter, The Autopsy of Jane Doe). Guillermo del Toro is given a "story by" credit and also serves as a producer. Check out the official synopsis here:
It’s 1968 in America. The Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark cast includes Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows,Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur, and Natalie Ganzhorn.
